Hey Family! We have a BIG announcement! WE”RE GOING GLOBAL, AGAIN Y’ALL!
We’re excited about this decision. We’ve been looking forward to the White Privilege Conference returning to an international venue. #NowIsTheTime
Why, you ask? The biggest reason is that we want to inspire and see Moore collaboration, Moore communication, and Moore cooperation within our global networks of educators, leaders, and learners using multiple languages.
Having the WPC in the Dominican Republic (DR) is also a great opportunity to step out of our comfort zone; join with our international co-conspirators to fight global white supremacy (ideology), white privilege & all forms of oppression; and remind ourselves of the importance of practicing rest and positive mental health. Lastly, the DR allows for our international family members to attend without experiencing the travel and visa challenges they may normally face coming to the WPC. #NowIsTheTime
Listen, we could write a whole book on why going global is important, but for now, we’re just scratching the surface with a few things.
Why go global?
White supremacy (ideology) is global. Colonialism rendered it so. The solutions we propose, to truly overcome (or transform) white supremacy (ideology) must also be global. The more we interact with people from other cultures and political histories and realities, the more our strategies become refined and sharpened. Today, we must be sharp, sharper, and sharpened! The times demand it. This is why I (Dr. Rita) proposed a workshop on the topic at the last conference. We are weaker without shared language. Did you know that the term “white supremacy” first shows up in a written document titled, A Speedy End to Slavery in Our West India Colonies, in 1824 by a British writer and abolitionist named T. S. Winn (Thomas S. Winn)? But when you mention racism in Europe, many people say, “That’s an American thing.”

Global white supremacy in world governments is rising. There are 195 “official” countries in the world. According to Freedom House 85 of these are electoral democracies. While in 2012, 25-30 of these were governed by center-right or right-wing governments, now that number has shifted from 35-45.
The alliance of tech white and old money. Many politicians today are heavily incubated and funded by billionaire tech investors. Some say the tech oligarchs want a completely hands-off approach to monopolizing artificial intelligence, biotechnology, and digital surveillance. In return, they offer political (powerful) leaders the digital infrastructure, funding, and algorithmic platforms needed to bypass mainstream media and consolidate state power.
We could go on and on, about how the glue that holds this together is the global wealth gap, and the international narrative of white supremacy (ideology) that goes from science, to beauty, to philosophy, and to all areas of art and standards of personal beauty. All areas that keep our attention and cortisol levels high, focused on the next scroll, the next offense, while the urgent climate crisis, which is already impacting Black and Brown folk more than whites, continues to rise. For all these reasons and more, it’s time to think globally. It’s time to build understanding, alliances, and breadth. This planet is our home, safeguarding it means being on the same page.
Resting our nervous systems. Our work puts us on the edge. We need rest. We need peace, love and freedom in our bodies. As our #WPC27 keynote speaker Jordan Johnson reminded us, our bodies need release. It’s not a luxury, it's a necessity to live a "frequency of justice and disrupt white supremacy in our bodies.”

Picture this: You’re having a conversation with someone else, talking about a problem you’ve been trying to solve. You’re both facing the sea. You stare at the beautiful turquoise sea waves kissed by the sun and a little breeze, and a natural pause takes place in the conversation. The silence isn’t uncomfortable––it’s restful. You take a sip from your Batida de Lechosa (papaya milkshake) or Coco Loco (local rum and coconut water). Taking the next few deep breaths feels natural. Then you realize these breaths are deeper than you've been breathing in a while, the last months were hectic. Then the pause changes. You have an idea. You turn to the person next to you and they have the same light in their eyes. They have an idea, too. Inspiration drives the rest of the conversation. You co-create the next breath of shared work. It’s more than a solution to the problem; it’s a whole cracking open of what’s possible for your collaboration.
What becomes possible when we co-create from a place of deep rest and rejuvenation?
We’re holding a bold vision folks, and we invite you to join us in co-creating this global affair!
